But as Hugo has already learned, nothing is ever what it seems and it is not long before his own life is in danger once again.

However, beneath the glamorous exterior rages a war, political, personal and deadly and Madeline and her friends find themselves caught up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

    Leaving the relative safety of Paris for the first time, seventeen-year-old Hugo Duchamp travels to be with his grandmother, the realisation of what his future without her might look like slowly dawning on him. Upon his arrival, he finds matters much worse than he could have imagined, and he realises ill health is not the greatest foe his grandmother is facing.

    The conclusion to the Hugo Duchamp prequel trilogy ends the saga with a dramatic bow, leading Hugo on a journey he must walk alone.
