Hugo Duchamp was born in Paris to a wealthy family. He spent most of his childhood living with his grandmother, Madeline Duchamp, after being abandoned by his parents.
Following Madeline’s death, Hugo enrolled in police training college, graduating at the top of his class.
After a short time working in Paris and seeking a change, Hugo relocated to London, retraining for the Met police where he soon rose through the ranks, finally becoming a superintendent in a crime unit affectionately known as ‘The met outsiders club.’
In 2015 Hugo is uprooted again when he is seconded to Montgenoux, a small town on the southwest French coast to investigate a horrific child murder. After the investigation is complete, Hugo finds his life moving in a very different direction and he decides to stay in France and pursue a new career and take a chance on love. In private, Hugo is socially inept and often awkward, but he is a skilled and thorough investigator.
