Happy christmas!
Another year is coming to a close. As usual, there’s been ups and downs, and the world itself feels a little crazy, but through it all, I take the time to count my blessings and try not to dwell on the negatives.
I want to thank you for all the great messages I received about ‘Souvenirs Négligents.’ It was an interesting story to write, so I’m pleased that it found a home. I did see some messages indicating some of you might have been concerned by the final chapter, which might have suggested an end to the series… Without giving any spoilers, I did toy with the idea of retiring the series, with Hugo and Ben going on a fantastic voyage around the world. However, events in the forthcoming ‘Bertram Hervé’s Final Case’ made me change my mind… Again, no spoilers, but what I can say is that I’ve already written the next Hugo book and have plans for at least two more, so, Hugo, Ben and all at Montgenoux aren’t going away any time soon!
Right now I’m in the process of finishing the first book in the ‘Lennie & Bertie’ trilogy, and I’m loving writing these new, fresh characters, so much so that after I’m finished the trilogy, I may change my mind and not ‘retire’ them. The current plan is to release all three books in the trilogy, one month apart, during the summer of 2027. A central story will connect each book, but several different threads will run throughout the series. Bizarrely, other than the third book, which will tie everything together, there will be no grand denouement at the end of the first two! I know, shocking, right? As I said, I’m really enjoying this change, and I think keeping it fresh is good for me and the books in general. Don’t worry, though, I think if you enjoy the Hugo and Coco books, you’ll enjoy these too.
So, what does 2026 have in store for us? On a personal level, I’m hoping for a calm, relaxing year in which my husband’s health continues to improve. As for the books, we have four completed stories now, so it’s going to be a busy time for us all!
Thanks again for all your love and support; it really means the world to me. I wish you a happy holiday period, however you choose to spend it, and, more importantly, a happy and healthy new year. Be good to each other.
Lots of love,
Gx
